About Bobby Applegate
I spent over 14 years as the senior technology leader at Cucamonga School District, moving from Team Lead to Supervisor, to Director across a K-8 organization of 2,900+ students and staff combined across six sites, watching the same failure patterns repeat across every kind of technology initiative. The failures were never technical. Nobody had defined who owned the decision, who carried the accountability, or what the organization would do when something went wrong. The technology worked, the structures around it frequently did not.
That observation became the AI Governance Framework for Operational Adoption, a practitioner’s guide for K-12 organizations implementing AI in non-instructional operations covering decision rights, organizational readiness, vendor assessment, and implementation governance.
For superintendents and cabinet leaders, I also published a companion Executive Brief that translates the framework into the decisions and questions that belong at the cabinet level before any AI initiative moves forward.
I hold the CITE Certified Chief Technology Officer credential, the EIAK12 Chief Innovation Officer certification, completed the Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence for Leaders at the University of Texas at Austin, and completed the Advanced AI Governance Training program through the AI Tech & Privacy Academy. I am pursuing the IAPP AI Governance Professional certification.
Beginning July 2026 I am available for consulting engagements focused on AI governance, organizational readiness, and strategic advisory work in K-12 education.
