About Bobby Applegate
I spent 14 years inside K-12 technology leadership watching the same failure patterns repeat across every kind of technology initiative. The failures were never technical. Nobody had defined who owned the decision, who carried the accountability, or what the organization would do when something went wrong. The technology worked, it was the structures around it that frequently did not.
That observation became the AI Governance Framework for Operational Adoption - a practitioner’s guide for K-12 organizations implementing AI in non-instructional operations. It covers decision rights, organizational readiness, vendor assessment, and implementation governance. Not theory, a methodology built from 14 years of watching what actually breaks and why.
For superintendents and cabinet leaders, I also published the Executive Brief for Superintendents and Cabinet Leaders - a seven page standalone document that translates the framework into the decisions and questions that belong at the cabinet level before any AI initiative moves forward.
I spent 14 years at Cucamonga School District in the senior technology leadership role moving from Team Lead to Supervisor to Director as the organization grew, but always as the person accountable for technology decisions across a K-8 organization of 2,500 students and six sites. I hold the CITE Certified Chief Technology Officer credential, completed the Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence for Leaders at the University of Texas at Austin, and am pursuing the IAPP AI Governance Professional certification.
Beginning July 2026 I am available for consulting engagements focused on AI governance, organizational readiness, and strategic advisory work in K-12 education.
